VLOG: How to dye your hair lilac

Today I decided to create my very first vlog explaining how I dyed my hair lilac! Creating your first YouTube video can be an awkward experience if you're not used to sitting and talking in front of a camera, but I'm sure I'll get more confortable in time. I really like the idea of vlogging and plan to continue shooting videos :) Thanks for watching!

Spring/Summer Wishlist

spring/summer wishlist

1. Meow Tee - Who doesn't love cats? I love my cat so very much and I obviously love anything cat related. This would be a great basic tee for colourful leggings.
2. LOTR Leggings - I'm a huge Lord of the Rings fan, so when I saw these leggings I was in awe. I saw a girl walking downtown wearing these bad boys, and I literally stopped mid-sentence to be like "Oh My God. Are those LOTR leggings?? Freakin' awesome!" They're seriously the coolest leggings I have ever seen and I would love to have them in my life.
3. Bohemian Cardigan - I love this cardigan because it looks like something my great aunt might have made. I practically wear an oversized cardi every day and I only own a couple, so I'd love to add this to my collection.
4. Flamingo Swim Suit - How gorgeous is this swim suit? The colours are beautiful and I love the print. I could even see myself wearing it during the day with a pair of shorts.
5. Strappy Sandals - I desperately need a pair of sandals this summer. I don't own any at all! I like the chunky straps and buckles on this pair. Brown is such a great colour for summer sandals, it just goes with everything. Also, these don't have the toe thong element like flip flops (that drives me crazy), and they have a zipper, making it easy to slip 'em on and off.
6. Colourful eyeliners - I like adding a pop of colour to my eyes in the summer time, a couple of coloured eye liners would make it super quick and easy.

A few of my favourite things for spring!

Spring is almost here! Well, technically it is spring here in Canada, but sometimes it doesn't feel that way. One day it's snowing, the next day it's 15 degrees celsius. Either way, I'm really excited about packing away my winter coat and enjoying the spring time. Here are some of my favourite looks and trends for this spring:

I'm definitely obsessed. I never really was a lipstick person before, but I LOVE neon lips. If I'm going to wear a lip colour, it will probably be bright and in your face (with a couple exceptions). There's a confidence that comes with sporting a neon lip... Some might find it too scary, but I think you should flaunt it - you look amazing and fierce. For myself, I love neon purples, pinks, and corals because they compliment my lilac hair. I've yet to try an orange lip, but I definitely plan on doing so soon. Be bold with your lipstick, it's fun! My favourite colours (that I've tried so far): Mac Viva Glam Nicki (coral), OCC Lip Tar in Hoochie(purple), Nars in Schiap(hot pink), Maybelline ColourSensational Vivids in Pink Pop (barbie pink).

There's nothing more effortless than a pair of leggings and an over sized top. First off, this is probably the easiest outfit ever, plus it's extremely comfortable. On top of that, these printed leggings look amazing! There's something edgy and fun about these bold prints and I love the statement look they bring. When I wear a pair of leggings like these, I feel like a walking piece of art.

Hello Mr. Lennon! I'm inspired by the round sunglasses, mostly of course, because they were a part of John Lennon's signature look. The only thing that I found hard was finding a pair that I felt suited me. Maybe it's because they're a bit different than any other sunglasses I'm used to.... Maybe I was scared I couldn't "pull them off", but I went for it and I love them! They remind me of something you'd wear to a music festival in the summer time. Give them a try!

Easy Going.

Untitled
As the school year (finally) settles down, I have a little more free time to do fun things again. Today I spent the day downtown Toronto, doing a little shopping and enjoying the weather. Spring finally seems to be coming and I couldn't be more excited. I decided to wear something comfortable and easy to change out of - with all the walking and potential wardrobe changes (I always try things on before I buy), I knew that these choices would come in handy in the long run.

I'm loving the rounded glasses trend right now. The only problem is, they're super hard to pull off! Actually, I just don't think I'm used to them and therefore I feel as though I look silly. These sunnies are kind of a compromise - they still have the rounded lenses, but they're also a cross breed of aviators. I also wore my favourite converse- I've had these forever and I will love them forever, since Pink Floyd is my favourite band.

This week I'm starting to get ready to move. Since I'm graduating school, I'm moving out of my residence apartment and back home for a bit until I find somewhere new to live. It's gonna be a crazy week, might as well start it off with a little retail therapy.

Favourite Beauty Products ATM

Untitled
Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Lip Tars. I heard about these a few years ago and was always intrigued. I've heard tons of great things about them, and now that they're available at Sephora, I thought I'd give them a try. I got the shades Queen, Divine, Hoochie, and Lovecraft and they are AMAZING!  They're extremely pigmented and come in a lot of amazing bright colours (including blue, yellow, and green). It feels like I'm wearing nothing on my lips and it lasts a pretty long time. I don't think I could pick a favourite out of the ones I have, they're all pretty wonderful. I will definitely be collecting more in the future! *one more plus: they're cruelty free and vegan!

Untitled
Batiste Dry Shampoo. Ever since I dyed my hair, I needed to get a good dry shampoo so that my hair would last longer without washing. I tried a Tresemme brand and it was awful compared to this, it did absolutely nothing for me. This stuff works wonders! Not only does it leave your hair looking amazing, it doesn't make it feel gross like some other dry shampoos... and the smell is absolutely amazing. You can purchase this at walmart in a variety of scents.

Untitled
Maybelline "The Rocket" Mascara & Stila "Stay All Day" Liquid Eye Liner. These are my make up staples. I usually always wear mascara and eyeliner, even on lazier days. I like The Rocket mascara because it has a really neat brush that separates the lashes really well - I hate clumpy mascara. I used to have a problem with liquid eyeliners where they would start to flake off half-way through the day, but not with this one. This Stila eye-liner really stays on all day and looks perfect. It's also really easy to apply and and great for creating a winged/cat eye look.

Untitled
Nars Lipstick in Schiap. This is such an amazing neon pink lipstick. I love bright coloured lipstick and this thing caught my eye from far away. This lipstick has a lovely matt finish, isn't drying, and feels like you're wearing nothing at all. Even though this colour is so bright, I think it's very wearable to anyone.

Untitled
The best nail combo ever - The New Black (Gold Sparkle) and Sally Hanson Xtreme Wear (Lacey Lilac). Lilac is my favourite colour and paired with this gold glitter, it's like a unicorn party of goodness. The glitter isn't the type where you stroke it on and only 5 glitters stick to your fingers, one stroke is almost like an opaque layer of glitter (it's amazing for a glitter polish). When layered over the lilac, it looks gold in some light, and lilac in other light.
Untitled
Pure Luxe Mineral shadows. I've used loose eye shadows way longer and often than regular eye shadows. Why? Because they're so much more pigmented (even compared to high end eye shadows). If you're a beginner and want to start a collection, this is a great place to start! Each shadow (of the sample size shown above) is only one dollar! I have a whole bunch of their colours and I have never ran out of any of them. I swear they have every colour of the spectrum, plus glitters and eye-liner colours. There are some really unique shadows like the kaleidoscope collection, which features colours that change colours in different light (these are SO COOL). The ones pictured above are Purple Aura (my favourite at the moment - it looks white in the jar, but goes on a lilac colour), Tarte, Smug, Seashore, Spice, Diamond Dust (a micro glitter), Supernova, and Ultimate Orchid.

My first photo series

I was really inspired by Duane Michals' photo series Death comes to the old lady, shot in 1969. I thought the use of a slow shutter speed was a creative way of making someone seem invisible. I loved what Michals did with this series, he brilliantly captured, in photographs, his perception of death.  This really inspired me to play with shutter speeds and create my own series.

This series is consists of six photos that capture my perception of forgetting someone. I called it Forget me, forget me not. I'm not going to go into great detail of what the series is about because it is completely up to you as the viewer to interpret as you want.

This is one of my first series and I am, by no means, a professional photographer. I'm slowly learning new techniques and searching for new inspirations everyday. I am pleased with how they turned out. Constructed criticism is definitely welcomed here - anything that helps with improvement is positive in my mind.

I'm back... with lilac hair!

Untitled Hello lovelies! First off I'd like to apologize for my lack of posts lately. March is a pretty brutal month for a student, and I will continue to be really busy until April. I'm going to try really hard to keep up with my posting! I have lots of ideas for this month and tons to share (including my new hair!)

As you can probably tell, I've changed my hair to lilac! I was having one of those moments where I wanted a change... a big change... and then this happened. I really love how it turned out.

Thanks for being such lovely followers and stay tuned for some more posts!
